From nature – with the innovative HyphaLite™ technology, we are able to produce parts of the shoe upper from sustainable ingredients provided by nature. Mushrooms form the basis of the production process and are mixed with natural rubber. The next step is to apply the mixture to a cellulose fabric. The finished material is used to make the shoe.
All of our vegan products are transparently certified as 100 % vegan by the PFI (Test and Research Institute in Pirmasens) using an external certification process. The PFI ensures that the upper material along with the adhesives and any other additives used to produce the shoe are completely free from components of an animal origin. What`s more, a third of the Tamaris collection features vegan styles among all of its shoe categories.
In addition to our GreenStep collection, numerous items from our range are produced in a factory in Portugal that is certified with the PFI "eco-label" for social and ecological aspects. This includes the environmental impact of the production facility as well as quality and chemical management.
Water-based adhesive
We only use water-based adhesives that are completely solvent-free for our Tamaris GreenStep collection. This protects the environment and improves working conditions during production. At the same time, this means we do not use any animal products such as gelatin, fish, hide or casein glue.
MADE WITH BLOOM™
We use biomass in the production of outsoles. BLOOM™ is an algae technology that counteracts the uncontrollable, global spread of algae in our waters. In the production process, algae biomass and bio-based additives are proportionally processed into a flexible resin. With the addition of BLOOM™, we are able to provide more environmentally friendly plastics for the sustainable production of outsoles, while reducing the need for fossil fuel materials such as petroleum.
Leather is a natural product. It is adaptable and flexible, breathable, long-lasting, easy to maintain, can be repaired and a is resource-saving material. Thus, it provides the ideal basis for timeless products that last for much longer than just one season. We only use animal skin that arises as a byproduct from meat production. The high standards of leather processing is certified by the Leather Working Group.
